We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat.
And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be.
We know things are bad, worse than bad. They're crazy.
It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore.
We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller,
and all we say is: 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything.
Just leave us alone.

I don't feel well when I look at this. These torture armours are quite unhealthy and I know they have been used on me.

A full haptic rig, suits, mask, and all, would be quite expensive and bulky. Better to have neural VR as in Sword Art Online. That would make the Oasis far more accessible to the world's poor who can't afford expensive haptics or their shipping.

That is true. But consider this: Direct neural connection is REALLY advanced and probably pretty expensive. Haptics will have to do for now, at least. Though, I would prefer Neural.

Sure, microwave scanners or whatever may be expensive when they first come out, but Moor's Law means that the cost will fall dramatically as the technology improves. When Papyrus, the material not the font or skeleton, was invented in Egypt, a single scroll was guarded by many priests. Now paper is the largest source of urban waste in modern times.

1. A Neural Interface requires more than just a microwave scanner. You need a physical connection, like in the Matrix.
2. Moore's Law applies to transistor size, not appliance cost.
3. Papyrus was invented over 6,000 years ago. I want to be alive when NIs become widespread.
4. I can tell when someone is talking about the paper, font, and Undertale character.

Panem et circenses

of course, any "succesful" civilization dealt with the same issues, reading about greek or roman society feels pretty much like reading about our present one, but then we are the 2.0 version of what they were anyway

P.S.: I really like where your creativity is coming. Last night I was up googling some of the lyrics in the descriptions of several artworks I liked from your gallery just to see what song inspired you. Now, not requesting or anything like that, but I would really like to see your imagination and creativity working the first two verses of "Lonely" by Crimson Glory. Check the song out (if you don't already know it) and if it creates a feeling, I would love to see it depicted! Keep them coming! Greetings from Greece!

Hey!

If you googled the lyrics you surely found out that most are from Ill Bill :) so maybe I'm a bit obsessed
but yeah, I always pick some lyrics that sort of fit and complete the picture, something that I've listened to that day or so

I have not listened to Crimson Glory but I'll sure check that song, and I'll tell you if it brings some images to my head ;)

Best!

First, it's the temperature that burns books.  Second, the story premise is of one person breaking away from the stigma of electronics controlling their lives (which, of course, is being controlled by the government).

Otherwise, go to a library and read it yourself.
